Research Interest

Dr. Kuwashiro’s research revolves around a fundamental understanding of the multiscale mechanics of polymers and composites under a broad range of loading and operating conditions. The cornerstone of her investigations hinges on elucidating the process-structure-property interrelationships of polymers and composites using a wide range of novel and conventional experimental mechanics techniques at different spatiotemporal scales. She will co-lead the multiscale and multifaceted characterization research vector at the Experimental Mechanics Laboratory, overseeing studies at strain rates ranging from the quasi-static to the ballistic limit and sizes extending from the nanoscale to the structural scales.
