Research Interest

Dr. Adak’s research work encompasses the development of novel surface-modified graphene hybridized epoxy nanocomposites with enhanced mechanical, thermal, coating, and EMI shielding properties, formulation of epoxy-based multifunctional structural composites, filament wounded carbon fiber reinforced epoxy composites for Type-IV cylinder, formulation of analytical and numerical models to predict the mechanical deformation behavior of the developed composites and use the developed composites for device prototype fabrication. Some of the notable contributions of Dr. Adak include the development of graphene hybridized nanocomposite for EMI shielding, epoxy-based structural electrolytes for energy storage applications, thermally stable carbon fiber/aramid nanofiber/epoxy composite for high-temperature structural application, filament wounded Type-IV cylinder for Hydrogen storage application, etc.  Currently, Dr. Adak is interested in curating the fundamental knowledge of additively manufactured FRP composites under a broad range of strain rates and loading conditions. He also focuses on synthesizing and characterizing smart elastomeric magnetoelectric nanocomposite inks for additive manufacturing of wearable electronics and soft robotic applications while elucidating the short and long-range interactions between the magnetic nanoparticles under the influence of the magnetic field.
